About the program
The One Book, One University Program is sponsored by the Governors State University Intellectual Life Committee. The One Book program is part of a nationwide movement which started in Seattle in 1998 to bring a community together to read and discuss the same literary work. Other GSU selections have included Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee and Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Welcome to One Book, One University
Join the GSU community in a discussion of The Color Purple, Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. The book was made into a movie in 1985 and a Tony Award-winning musical play as well. The National Touring Company will bring the exciting musical to the Center for Performing Arts at GSU at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012. For ticket information, click here!
