Library Instruction Services

The GSU Library offers a variety of instruction services that teach information literacy and research skills needed for academic success.

COURSE-RELATED INSTRUCTION

Faculty-Requested Class Instruction

  • Liaison Librarians can teach customized sessions based on the needs of your course and assignments.
  • Liaison Librarians can "chunk" topics or objectives, and teach multiple sessions throughout the semester.
  • Sessions can be held in campus classrooms that have Internet and a projector.
  • Sessions can be held in a library room or library lab.  Advance notice is needed to reserve a library room,
and confirmation may depend on room availability.

Curriculum and Online Instructional Support

  • Liaison Librarians can embed course-specific LibGuides and other resources in your Blackboard course or website.
  • Liaison Librarians can collaborate with professors to develop information-rich assignments.
  • Liaison Librarians can participate in synchronous sessions in online classes.
  • A compilation of online tutorials and guides is being developed, and will be posted here when complete.

WORKSHOPS

  • The GSU Library provides a variety of workshops on academic topics and applications.
  • Scheduled library workshops are open to all GSU faculty, students, staff, and community members unless otherwise noted.
  • Many workshops teach skills and concepts that are transferable to a variety of courses.  Professors can give students
extra credit for attending such workshops.
  • Check the Workshop Schedule to see what is being offered each semester.

 INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP SESSIONS

  • Faculty, students, and staff may request individual instruction by contacting their Liaison Librarian.
  • NEW! GSU students, staff, clubs, departments, etc. may request orientations, workshops, or instruction sessions for
a group of three or more attendees.  Sessions need to be planned in advance to check librarian and room availability.
